Smart backup

We advise cryptocurrency holders against using the seed phrase for backup. Tangem Wallet backs up your private keys with the use of additional cards or a ring, eliminating the risk of seed exposure.

Yet, we have left the seed phrase option for those who would like to stick to the familiar recovery method.

Make sure you read the most commonly asked questions and answers to them before placing an order.

  • At the heart of the ring and the cards is the same technology. They are functionally identical - only the form factor differs.
  • You can choose any US size from 8 to 13. Do check our video tutorial or guide to find out which size you need.
  • The ring cannot be exchanged or returned upon the receipt of an order on the grounds of its being too small or too big. What we suggest as an alternative is wearing it as a stylish pendant on a necklace.
  • The Tangem Ring is sold in a set with two cards to enable proper backup.
  • You still retain full control over your funds - each of the two backup cards can be used to sign transactions. Should someone find your ring, they will be unable to access your wallet since it is protected with a secret code that is stored on the chip of the ring. Having just the ring, one cannot reset it - at least one additional card is needed for that. Nor can one pick the access code by brute force due to an in-built security mechanism.
  • Tapping a ring to a phone is not enough to sign a transaction. One needs to enter an access code or pass through biometric authentication.
  • The wallet with a ring is functionally identical to a 3-card wallet, which enables you to generate a seed phrase or import the existing one.
  • Yes, you can create a backup purely between the rings if you have at least two of them.
